Mission & Vision

A History Based on Community

Nicsa was founded in 1962 as an informal forum for service professionals in the mutual fund industry. Among its founding leaders were Richard L. Casey of State Street Bank & Trust Company, Founder and President; Edward D. Windsor of Fidelity Fund (now Fidelity Investments), Secretary; and John R. Vaughn, Jr. of Old Colony Trust Company (now part of Columbia Threadneedle Investments), Treasurer.

At our inception, we were known as National Investment Company Service Association. Today, we simply go by “Nicsa,” and serve a wide array of business lines including product, distribution, digital innovation, data, operations, risk management, and accounting.

For sixty years, Nicsa has promoted an open and collaborative environment, where members’ and partners’ deep expertise and unique perspectives have come together to help strategically implement and support the industry’s most vital issues.
