1999 NICSA/William T. Black Scholarship Awards

NICSA Chairman Alan D. Greene announced the names of the recipients of the 1999 NICSA/ William T. Blackwell Scholarships at the May General Membership Meeting in Boston. Nine students were selected by the Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of America from an outstanding field of applicants and each will be awarded a scholarship for post secondary education.

The 1999 recipients of the NICSA/William T. Blackwell Scholarship award are:

Bridget Bunten, of Rockport, MA, plans to attend Gettysburgh College in Gettysburgh, PA, majoring in Spanish/Education. Her NICSA member parent is Walter C. Bunten of Colonial Management.

Courtney Christensen, of Denver, CO, plans to attend the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO, majoring in Biochemistry. Her NICSA member parent is Teresa L. Keller of OppenheimerFunds.

Gail Douglas, of St. Thomas, VI, plans to attend the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL, majoring in Business Management. Her NICSA member parent is Lawrence T. Douglas of State Street.

Maya Gumennik, of Swampscott, MA, plans to attend Harvard University in Cambridge, MA, majoring in English/Linguistics. Her NICSA member parent is Inna Gumennik of MFS.

Thomas Harrington, of Melbourne, FL, plans to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL, majoring in Economics. His NICSA member parent is Thomas D. Harrington of Liberty Funds.

Lauren Keane, of San Francisco, CA, plans to attend Yale University in New Haven, CT. Her NICSA member parent is Nancy E. Keane of Franklin-Templeton.

Joseph Lucia, of Boston, MA, plans to attend Williams College in Williamstown, MA. His NICSA member parent is Maryellen C. Lucia of State Street.

Zachary McComsey, of Parker, CO, plans to attend Colorado Christian University in Lakewood, CO, majoring in Youth Ministry. His NICSA member parent is Russell C. McComsey of American Century.

Jane Yang, of Saugus, MA, plans to attend Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges in Cambridge, MA, majoring in International Relations. Her NICSA member parent is Chiawen Yang of State Street.

Established by the Board of Directors in May of 1995 as a tribute to Bill Blackwell's commitment to NICSA and to the mutual fund industry, the NICSA/William T. Blackwell Scholarship Fund is endowed through donations by individuals and NICSA member companies.
